Government of Canada creates a dedicated Chief Firearms Officer to serve northerners

Today, the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety, announced the creation of a dedicated northern Chief Firearms Officer (CFO) for the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

The new CFO has exclusive responsibility for firearms services in all three territories and is supported by Firearms Officers in each territory.

An open process will be run to appoint the permanent northern CFO. Until that process is completed, an interim CFO from Yukon will serve the needs of all northerners.

This new appointment will enhance firearms regulatory services, outreach and engagement across the North. This approach reflects the key findings of the Canadian Firearms Program’s Northern Services Review of firearms regulatory service delivery in the North, which was informed by broad engagement with territorial partners.

The hypocrisy is staggering. The Yukon party runs on a promise to reject participation in the federal gun confiscation program, then turns around and pushes for a Chief Firearms Officer in the territory. You can’t stand on both sides of the same fence forever. And of course the federal government will agree. Why wouldn’t it? Every new office, every new appointment, every “local service” becomes another quiet doorway for the same machinery to move in. They don’t need to show up in person anymore; they just need forms, emails, signatures, and obedient local partners. That’s how it happens: not with a dramatic takeover, but with a bureaucratic setup that looks harmless until it’s already too late.

The Yukon Party says one thing to win votes, then sets the table for the very federal gun confiscation scheme it claims to oppose. You can’t pretend to resist Ottawa while helping install the local law enforcement that makes Ottawa’s job easier. That's how this game is played: they don’t always come kicking down the door. Sometimes they just build the doorway for you, call it “service,” and let the takeover happen one appointment at a time. So when the order comes from Ottawa to proceed with the confiscation I can already see it written in stone that the Yukon Party Government will say "there is nothing they can do because it's federal." A perfect plan, a perfect execution of political play, because most peoples are dumb. The Yukon Party is in bed with the Liberals. Comments like the one below is only some of the reactions of people that don't live under a rock understand. it's our opinion and if you don't like it go fuck yourself.
